Day 2 - July 5th  What an Up and Down DAy!


What an up and down day!  I had a mild headache all day yesterday, either sinuses, or allergies or diet coke withdrawl ( caffeine ) or electrolyte imbalance.  I drank more than 3L of water before 9 am today. This heat is a killer.  I woke up with the headache and it was just mild.  Hopped in the hiking van with the FAST group and luckily there were 3 hiking guides.  So I got my own private one ( this time at the back of the pack) .  I just went my pace, which was pretty decent but all this extra weight really makes it hard to get up those steep inclines! The way down I was ahead of a few and definitely kept up with the group.  The hike we did today was volcano.  It was a 1500 feet elevation gain to the top and about 7 km round trip.  Lots of sand to hike through to get to the mountain!



I crashed hard when I came back. I did not feel well at all. Bad migraine and felt like getting sick and did not want to even look at breakfast but knew I had to eat. I had some more water and electrolytes, but it did not help.

BECOMING A REALIST - lecture - I layed on chairs in the back of the room and caught a little bit of it.  The lifecoach Jen talked about expectations and choices - sure you can have that 1200 calorie slice of cheesecake - BUT - do not be ticked off when the numbers on the scale are not what you would want them to be!  It's all about math! You need to know your BMR - how many calories in a day you need to be in a coma and for me now that 1850 calories and you add 400 for mild activity for your day and that's how many calories you need to eat to maintain your current weight.   So I can eat 2250 calories and not gain, eat less ( like  1200 that I am and bam - there is 1000 calorie defecit right there!  3500 makes 1 lb - I figured out my exercise today and probably burned 3000 - so another lb of fat should be gone! 

CIRCUIT TRAINING - same as yesterday - I took it really easy because I didn't feel well and was hoping that my headache would go away with the exercise.

LUNCH - trainer came by and asked me what was up as they could tell I wasn't myself  - I WAS QUIET... LOL and she recommended that I get some excederine migraine - it has caffeine and if it was withdrawl it would help - so I bought some

FAT CARB & PROTEIN LECTURE - I curled up on the back couch and absorbed a bit of the lecture.  By the time I got up an hour later I felt sooooooooooooo much better, alive again!

BOOTCAMP - CRAZY 8's   GREAT WORKOUT - DO IT!!!!!! NO equipment can do it anywhere!  Follow the photo - you do 8 jumping jacks, then 8 push ups , then 8 squats..... when the exercise list is done, do 30 sec easy running / walking & mark 1 on a board / paper and then keep on going repeat the set 8 times!!! Or how many ever you want - loved it, will definitely use it in class but add burpees in it...
CARDIO INTERVALS - OH SHARON - how we love Sharon! She is amazing - inspiring and pushes you do do what you think you cannot!  I left every piece of me in that gym tonight! Could have done more if I was feeling well but I got going 7.4 mph on the treadmill which I thought was pretty good - considering I had probably 100 lbs on a lot of the other treadmillers and they were walking! I did my best as i'm sure they did too!  Everyone's journey is their own - DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELVES TO OTHERS!   
Class format - aerobic machine ( treadmill, bike, rower, elliptical) I like the treadmill, you can't cheat or you fall off!  
Warm up for 5 minutes and then choose a baseline that you could do for 1 hour.
Every 30 seconds increase either the speed or intensity of the machine8 times ( simulates climbing a mountain)   at the top we sprinted at that top speed for 2 minutes.  1 minute recovery and then sprinted another 1 minute then came down decreasing every 30 seconds for 8 time.... Sprint 2 min . recover. sprint 1 min again at the bottom and then guess what................. Do it again!  This time on the way up increase BOTH the incline and the speed each 30 seconds..... ugh...... gets you to that I'm not feeling so good place, anaerobic workout gets you OUT of that COMFORT ZONE - nothing grows there - get out!
POOL WORKOUT - Sharon's class - so much more intense that yesterdays, got some great ideas for teaching aquafit!  Burpees in the pool are amazing - I can hardly sit up tonight, cough cough, ouch ouch... LOL

after dinner ran to the store to grab a few things, very upset stomach and had to get a lot of extra steps in the store.  Have to figure out what part of lunch/ supper  my body did not like.

I'm feeling great all in all. Pushed through the migraine, don't miss the diet coke or sugar - remind me of how horrible 4 hours of this day was for me if you see me with a can of that poison again PLEASE|!  I have nothing but full length mirrors in my bathroom and I noticed that my tummy was sagging instead of bulging already!!! Last visit pants that I could not zip up the side when I let home ( we are talking 3 inch gap between the zipper) fit 1 week after being here, so I am hoping for the same quick shrinkage again!

Tomorrow will be a very beautiful but challenging hike, ALLSTONE like - i'll take up the rear again but I will get it done - BECAUSE I CAN. 

Sorry this is so long - after the first week I won't describe the classes anymore, hope you can take some of the ideas and try them at home!  Until tomorrow...... of to ZZZZZ land with NO fireworks going off tonight and dogs barking at them, it's crazy down here for July 4th fireworks!
