Tuesday July 26th, 2016 Somedays Superwoman, Somedays just HUMAN
Morning Hike - We did WhiteRocks - one of the hardest hikes they have at Movara. We gained 1250 ft elevation - so an awesome climb. Lots of sand, lavarock, limestone. Big tour through snow canyon - loved it! The group was not balanced well. For some reason there are 12 people in our van - it's crazy with about 4 different levels. So there is no FAST van this week, so our van is the fastest. I basically had a private guide today - Mason, he kept a good pace for me to keep up with . I pushed myself on the uphills, overall the hike did not seem that hard.
BREAKFAST
BIKE RIDE - I went on a new route - wasn't sure where I was going and was hoping it wouldn't be too hard of a climb to get back - it's so hilly everywhere - it was a good workout.
SWIM - I came back and didn't feel like doing circuit or stretch ( I did 2 circuits yesterday) so I hopped in the pool and did a good 1km swim
LUNCH
After lunch I hopped in the pool as I will still in my bathing suit and layed on a floatie and read a few chapters in my book.
ALL OR NORTHING LECTURE - pretty much everyone at the lecture raised their hand when asked if they were all or nothing. The life coach chuckled and said " of course you all are because that is they type of people who show up here. It's pretty all or nothing program - to pay the money and sacrifice the time when if getting healthy was your concern and you were not all or nothing you would simply walk around the block at home and buy some apples... LOL
For most all or nothings, it probably stems from an event that happened and then life falls to crap! You have a feeling of "not good enough" and feel like a failure or a fraud.
"A try that doesn't work isn't a failure, it's a lesson"
"You are not a FAILURE - you are a QUITTER"
When we are in the "all" we perform and when we are in "nothing" we are rebelling - there is a spectrum inbetween and we need to learn how to " be us" most of us have a probem with that.
All or nothing thinking - you try harder or you quit , because if it's not perfect it's not worth it.
All or nothing thinking never works in health
You need to ask yourself - What's Enough for me? If I was enough, what would I do?
The word should = SHAME
Stop "Should"ing all over yourself!
So with this advice - I took the rest of the afternoon off. Missed Bootcamp and missed Cardio Intervals and pool class. I was having a pretty rough day about half way through the bike ride. Hormones & emotions heightened and I just did not have the energy to do the workout, I worked really hard for 3 1/2 hours and that was enough! So I went to the afternoon matinee at the theatre ( would have loved to have layed in the sun) - but it was 44 degrees and way too hot!
I saw " The Secret Life of Pets" - had a good laugh and felt SO MUCH BETTER.
Easy 20 min treadmill - walked on the treadmill with flip flops for 20 min waiting for dinner.
SUPPER- Turkey Reuben - so delicious!
It was a good learning day. The extra calories I could have burned are really not that important. I was working on the mental health and balance. I am looking forward to working hard and going back tomorrow - there are gonna be some days that you don't follow your plan and that is OK!
3 more day and Saturday morning i'm going to do Stop Sign - get my STATS done , eat breakfast and start driving home by 10 am.
Are you an all or nothing thinker? If so - set smaller manageable goals and if you don't make them, don't quit readjust them, learn from the lesson and keep moving forward!
